How Semaglutide Works
Every time you eat, your body releases peptides (GLP-1 and GIP) and hormones (insulin and amylin) that slow the movement of food through the digestive tract, decrease appetite and release insulin to keep your blood sugar at a normal range.
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) based medications — including Semaglutide — work the same way to slow the movement of food, decrease appetite and increase the feeling of fullness.

In studies, once-weekly Semaglutide use has resulted in an average weight loss of 33.66 pounds or 14.9% of body weight when used for 68 weeks. Additionally, lower blood pressure and cardiovascular risk factors were noted along with an increase in patient-reported physical functioning.

Weight loss can result in decreases in:
Risk of Type 2 Diabetes
(Type 2 remission can be achieved in almost half of
those that lose 15% of body weight)
High Cholesterol
Blood Pressure
Risk of Heart Disease
(including heart failure and atrial fibrillation)
Stroke
Blood Clots

Owner
Dr. Erin Merritt, PharmD
Hello! My name is Erin Merritt and I am the owner of MA Clinical Services. I also am the owner and managing pharmacist at Modern Apothecary, an independent pharmacy located in Downtown Kenosha. I am a graduate of Midwestern University, where I earned my doctor of pharmacy degree. I opened Modern Apothecary in 2014, and have enjoyed seeing the business grow over the years (more patients, more staff, new building!), which is why I am excited to be starting this new venture at MA Clinical Services.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my children, husband, and two German Shepherds, reading, and gardening.

Hannah Sorensen, BSN, RN
Hi! My name is Hannah and I am the registered nurse at MA Clinical Services. I am a graduate of the consortial baccalaureate nursing program at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and am currently pursuing my masters degree from Herzing University. Before joining MA Clinical Services, I gained nursing experience in ICU, step-down, and medical/surgical/telemetry departments in Kenosha and Milwaukee hospitals. I am a Kenosha native (born and raised!). I am passionate about wholistic, complementary, and integrative healthcare options for patients, and am excited to help you with your weight-loss journey and overall health.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors (walks, hikes, kayaking, you name it!)
